Packing well lets you spend your time in worship instead of shopping for things you forgot. Use this checklist as you prepare.
Ihram & clothing
- Two sets of Ihram sheets for men, and an Ihram belt for valuables
- Comfortable, modest clothing for women
- Light, breathable everyday clothes
- Comfortable sandals or slippers suitable for long walks
Toiletries
- Unscented soap, shampoo and deodorant — fragrance is not permitted while in Ihram
- Toothbrush, miswak and a small towel
- Sunscreen and lip balm (unscented)
Worship essentials
- A pocket Qur'an or Qur'an app
- A small book of du'as
- Light prayer mat and tasbeeh
Health & travel
- Personal medicines with prescriptions
- Basic first-aid: plasters, pain relief, ORS sachets
- Phone charger, power bank and a universal adapter
- Photocopies of passport and visa
- A small umbrella for shade
